Over the years, Bishop Hardy has been active in the community and the church at various levels. He served on the Norfolk, Virginia School Board for nine years including two years as vice chairman. For the past nineteen years Bishop Hardy has been president of the Tidewater Ministers Fellowship COGIC. Under his leadership, the fellowship formed a nonprofit corporation that has donated thousands of dollars to shelter persons who were homeless or threatened by Homelessness.
Bishop Hardy is a life member of the NAACP. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the General Assembly of the Church of God In Christ, the legislative body of the denomination. He also served as one of the commissioners for the last constitutional convention of the national church. In January 2010 the Presiding Bishop and the General Board members unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Hardy to be Bishop Designate, to form the 4th Jurisdiction of Virginia COGIC. The National General Assembly of the Church of God in Christ voted in April to ratify Bishop Hardy’s appointment thereby creating the first new jurisdiction in Virginia since 1967. In November 2010, Dr. Hardy was consecrated as a Bishop at the Church Of God In Christ's International Holy Convocation in Saint Louis, Missouri.
